Absolutely! In fact the ACORN Superglide Stair Lift has been designed with self-installation in mind. There is no complex or potentially dangerous mains electricity wiring to contend with - the stair lift simply plugs into your wall outlet, just like any other domestic appliance and the stair lift is attached directly to the stair treads - not the wall, so there is no unsightly damage or alteration to the structure of your home.
The ACORN Superglide Stair Lift is custom built for your stairway and all of the settings are fixed at our manufacturing plant, you will need only the most basic of tools to complete the installation.

Some other stairlift companies may tell you " Do NOT buy a stairlift that contains a circuit board. Circuit boards simply do not hold up when they are constantly being vibrated and jarred. If this was true would they be used in cars, washing machines and other common-place modern electrical goods?
The ACORN stair lift are very reliable, with a phenomenally low breakdown rate. With well over 100,000 lifts installed around the world. We would not use a component that could leave our customers stranded without being able to use the stairs.

Medicare does not presently cover stairlift products.
Unfortunately, they do not consider stairlifts a “medical necessityâ€. Until this changes, all we can do is try to point the financially needy in the right direction. Hopefully the following information will assist you.

How does it compare to the Summit / AmeriGlide or Access Stair Lift?
he Summit and AmeriGlide stair lifts are the same machine, simply sold under different names.
This lift and the Access stair lift (or to give it their full name ThyssenKrupp Access) are AC or mains electricity powered stair lifts.
The ACORN Stair Lift is a DC or battery powered stair lift. It may be helpful to make a direct, head-to-head comparison of these stair lifts with the ACORN Superglide 120 DC stair lift, because some manufacturers are making some very misleading claims about their own and competitors products.
